Soybean oil is a fatty oil extracted from the seeds of the soybean plant (*Glycine soya* Bentham) (family Fabaceae). Chemically, it consists of a mixture of glycerol esters of various fatty acids; these fatty acids are primarily linoleic acid, linolenic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid, with other acids present in trace amounts.
As a pharmaceutical excipient, soybean oil serves primarily as a lipid-based carrier for oral drug delivery, finding widespread application in oral liquid preparations and soft capsules. It is also utilized as a solvent in topical formulations, capable of dissolving oil-soluble drugs such as hormones, volatile oils, free alkaloids, and numerous aromatic compounds.
Typically, based on intended use, processing methods, and quality specifications, soybean oil is categorized into "crude oil" and "finished oil." Finished oil is further subdivided into "pressed finished oil" and "extracted finished oil." Crude oil refers to oil or fat that has not undergone refining or similar processing (also known as "raw oil"); it is unsuitable for direct human consumption and serves solely as a raw material for producing finished oil. Finished oil, conversely, refers to an oil product that has undergone refining processes to meet edible consumption standards. Pressed finished oil is derived from crude oil extracted via mechanical pressing methods, whereas extracted finished oil is derived from crude oil extracted using solvents that comply with hygiene and safety regulations. According to the Chinese National Standard GB1535-2003, both pressed and extracted finished soybean oils are classified into four quality grades—Grades 1, 2, 3, and 4; the quality standards for these grades differ from those specified in pharmacopoeias for soybean oil intended for use as a pharmaceutical excipient.
Our company's production methodology involves utilizing Grade 1 pressed finished oil as the primary raw material. Through the application of advanced refining techniques, we enhance the quality parameters and overall quality of the soybean oil to ensure full compliance with the stringent quality requirements stipulated by global pharmacopoeias.
